What is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2?

This world-famous skateboarding game lets you do crazy tricks, rack up huge points, and conquer iconic skate parks. Relatively user-friendly with slightly underpowered physics and incredibly good music, it almost perfectly conceived the whole atmosphere of street skating and vert ramps. Whether it's grinding on rails, doing kickflips, or going for big air, THPS2 really offers good and nonstop adrenaline-pumping fun.

How to Play

Controls: Use arrow keys or WASD to move around. Use space or different keys to ollie, flip, and grab.
Game Modes:
- Career Mode: Earn scores, collect SKATE letters, and perform designated tricks in order to unlock new levels and gear.
- Free Skate: Practice tricks at your leisure and explore the various levels without pressure.
- Multiplayer: Compete against a friend in split-screen or online mode (if available).
Objectives: Scratch each level with its unique challenges: nail combos, locate hidden tapes, and unlock new skaters.

Tips and Tricks

Manual Combos: Connect tricks using manuals (balancing on just two wheels) to maintain your multiplier.
Special Tricks: Get the stats of all skaters up high enough to unlock their special trick, and rack up huge points performing it!
Hidden Spots: Check out some out-of-the-way spots for secret gaps worth extra points.
Reverts: Land a vert trick and immediately hit the revert button to flow on into another trick.

History

Tom Thumb said that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 came out in 2000, and then it was often considered one of the best sports games of all time. It improved upon the successes of the first by adding manuals, better physics, and a create-a-park mode, thus revolutionizing skateboarding games. The influence of the game can still be felt in current skate titles.
