What are the Visitor?

The Visitor is a dark comic-horror-adventure game where the player takes one of those ravenous alien parasites that has crash-landed on Earth. Originally just this diminutive worm-like character, you are to consume, evolve, and take over the entire planet by infesting and devouring every living being that blocks your way. Developed by Zeebarf in 2007, it marries the spectacle of gross body horror with puzzle elements to create some uniquely disturbing fun.

Gameplay

Mouse Interaction: Click on items, creatures, and parts of the environment to interact with them, solve puzzles, and feed on your victims.
Puzzle-Solving: Each level requires a measure of strategic thinking—layout ways to infect hosts, trick obstacles, and gather strength.
Evolution: After the thing has done his business and eaten a prey, the thing starts to mutate into more powerful forms with new abilities.

Tips & Tricks

Watch for It: Some interactions are not clear-cut—explore and click on random objects to reach your goal.
Keep an Eye on the Clock: You must time things well in some event sequences to avoid detection or counterattack.
Chow down: Do not hesitate in eating hosts entirely for more grow and unlocking terrible horrors.

History

Dean first released as a Flash game in 2007, The Visitor went on to achieve a cult following owing to its grim art style, dark humor, and abjectly violent gameplay. For all its age, horror mixed with puzzle mechanics is truly memorable.
