What is Cooking Mama?

Cooking Mama is a fun and satirical simulation game created in 2012 by PETA to help bring awareness to the issue of animal cruelty. Unlike the light-hearted mainstream Cooking Mama games, this darker humor version takes players through the sadistic preparation of a Thanksgiving turkey, so to speak—from plucking to removal of organs—with a bonus vegetarian meal to follow. The game is simple and intuitive to play, yet it conveys a thought-provoking issue.

How to Play

Follow Mama’s Instructions – Each step involves the various stages of preparing the turkey, and Mama guides you through the whole procedure.
Complete the Tasks Accurately – Plucking feathers, for example, has to be done the right way to get a good score.
Unlock the Bonus Level – Once you finish the turkey meal, you get to cook the vegetarian dish where tofu and vegetables replace meat.
Go for the High Score – The more accurately you perform the instructions, the more points you get rewarded.

Though started as a PETA Flash game to both criticize the meat industry and make for an unconventional gaming experience, Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals evolved into a cult hit because of the weirdness of its gameplay and, at the same time, its very engaging nature.
