What Is To The Core?

To The Core is a lovely underground exploration game where you pilot a submarine all the way down to the surface to mine resources with which you upgrade your ship and survive the harsh depths. Fuel is the lifeline; you have to make sure you collect enough to get back while balancing strength as you drill through rocks and they drop other valuable materials. The game does not end just at Earth, with a few planets out there for you to explore, each an advertisement with challenges and rewards.

Gameplay

Movement: Use A and D keys to push left and right. Gravity will pull you swiftly down, but if you somehow hit a rock, that's a knockback which you can use to push yourself up strategically.
Mining: Drill rocks to mop up iron and other materials—this is the money of the game to be exchanged for upgrades and fuel.
Fuel: The game is going to keep an eye on your fuel; when you run out, it's going to be the end. Keep enough fuel, 60 fuel to be exact, so that the game acknowledges your presence and allows you to go home.
Upgrades: Unlock five main possible upgrades in the shop:
- Drill Damage: For faster breaking of rocks.
- Silicon Plating: Lessens the damage from collisions.
- Ore Extraction: Get more resource per rock.
- Fuel Tank+: Enhances the maximum fuel capacity.
- Vision Upgrade: Allows the revelation of new planets (very important for progress).

Pro Tips

✔ Start with Vision Upgrades so you can access new planets to collect rare materials from.
✔ Pay Close Attention to Your Fuel Consumption; absent-minded drilling could eventually lead to wasting too much fuel and leaving you underground for good.
✔ Use knockbacks from hitting rocks to conserve fuel by bouncing upward.
✔ Collect iron first; this metal is the backbone of all upgrades, so mine it efficiently.

The gameplay of To The Core draws heavier inspiration from classic digging and resource management games, mixing the elements of strategy, survival, and exploration in a fast-paced journey.
