What is Dear Edmund?
Set in a grim dystopia amidst Victorian-era England, Dear Edmund is a narrative-driven game. Keep playing while negotiating the moral dilemmas that confront survival in a society in the glasshouse. Will you steal and stash wealth for yourself, or work to uplift the downtrodden residents? All choices made in its streets, whether good or bad—the town, its people, and all that goes on in it—are molded by your finish.
Gameplay
- Decision Making: Facing moral dilemmas pied by desperate residents, will you help them at a cost or reject their pleas?
- Street Health: Based on your choices, the environment is altered before your very eyes: allow the poor to languish, and the streets fall into decay; nourish and support them, and they flourish and prosper.
- Wealth Management: Garner wealth to furnish your home, bribe officials, or bankroll well-meaning causes, but greed will burn your wings.
- Moral Scale: Your deeds will be judged, branding you as a Saint, a Demon, or in between; this reputation will, however, direct a cast of changes that develop in the narrative.
Tips & Tricks
- Balance Self-Interest & Charity: Greedy acts isolate you, while being purely altruistic leaves you bankrupt. Find an equal footing.
- Observe the Streets: The environment changes subtly; be watchful for visual cues that indicate the effects of your choices.
- Play Different Styles: Mix up your moral alignments on various playthroughs to reveal every angle of the story.
